Trial Lake in the Uintas

We spent the weekend off the Mirror Lake Highway up in the High Uintas in Utah. Thought we would do a little camping, fishing and exploring while the summer was still peak in the mountains. Our group of 3 headed up early afternoon on Friday to Trial Lake, the last 30 minutes of driving up to the campsite it poured on us and was a little cold. Once we got to the site it rained off and on for a few hours while we set up and got situated. The rest of the evening ended up being beautiful as did the rest of the trip other than the first night it absolutely poured on us all night long but we stayed dry and it was fine and nice to hear. The rest of the group joined late that night and we had the weekend in the mountains.

I knew going into this trip and this specific lake that the fish were going to be severely pressured and I knew that wasn't going to be the focal point of the trip. Of course, I still took my rods. On my third cast I hooked into a little Tiger Trout and brought him to the shore for my first time landing a Tiger Trout. I caught another one a few hours later after just a few more casts then went empty handed the rest of the trip.

On Saturday morning we went and hiked the falls on the Upper Provo River and hiked around and explored those for a while. We also later in the day hiked to another lake and did some cliff jumping and swimming and unfruitful fishing. The hike in, the 15 foot cliffs and the cold water was a fun way to spend a warm afternoon. We had our kayaks out on the lake as well and everyone used them a few times and it was a great little lake to kayak on. Caught a fish from mine too and that was fun. Its always good to get out in the mountains and do whatever adventures are out there. Hadn't been cliff jumping in a while and that was a blast, was cool to hike around, see some sights and lakes and catch my first Tiger.
