MCKAY'S TRAVEL, OUTDOORS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Travel Blog
This is a good way for me to track and remember what I've done lately and in the past. A form of journaling. I have several reasons I blog, when I travel, when I spend time outdoors, when I enjoy any kind of experience and also when I eat/try new food.. Here are all of those posts. I usually post every month on average.

Jensens Do: Cancun
Spring break 2026 was a full family trip to Cancun Mexico. Everyone was there for different times but we all overlapped for about 5 days. Coleson and Katie got there on the first day followed the next day by Allie, Emelia and me and Caleb, Gabie and Hazel. Mom, Dad and Landry as well as Charlee and Bridger got there on day 3. The all inclusive resort was a blast and everyone had a blast. The food was pretty good and I had to have had over 50 drinks led by the piña colada. The

Alamo City - San Antonio
Took a business trip over to Texas. Most of my time was spend working but I had some time to poke around a bit, check out the Alamo and Riverwalk and got to eat at a few cool places for dinners. The City itself is not going to make my top 10 Cities in the US list, in fact it'll be quite a ways down on the all time list, so much so that I don't think I'll ever be visiting again. There were some cool parts like the Riverwalk itself and the Alamo but overall was kindof a mess.

Voi - Ungatni Lodge
One of the highlights of the trip was our time in Ungatni. First off it was crazy how different Kenya can be, from the amazing beaches to the African savannah Kenya is quite diverse. The lodge itself is located right off the Tsavo East National Park and is situated right by a watering hole that constantly draws in wildlife. It was really cool to see all the classic Africa animals you see while listening to David Attenborough. Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes and everything in bet

Kisite-Mpunguti National Park
On one of our days on the coast we took a day trip to an underwater national park. Around Wasini Island is a park with shallow sand bars that are uncovered at low tide as well as piles of coral reefs and thousands of fish. It was a crazy experience getting out there, the boat looked like it barley floated and I'm pretty sure it was 300 years old. When you mix that with a motor that needed its spark plugs replaces on the water and the fact that there were some pretty good wav

Monkey Beach House at Diani Beach
Once we made our way through the cities and villages we finally made it to our place of refuge, The Monkey Beach House on Diani Beach. I can honestly say, this was one of the coolest and nicest places I have ever stayed and one of the coolest vacation villas anyone could ask for. Huge beach house, our own pool and all on a beach that might be one of the nicest beaches in the world (and I have seen some sweet beaches). The Indian Ocean was really warm and the tide changes we

Jambo! Cities of Kenya
Finally got the crew to Kenya. After hearing about Kenya for a few years now, I finally had the chance to go myself with the whole family. Getting there and back is an experience all to itself, and not in such a good way. It takes forever to get over there as it is almost exactly half way around the world. But there were a few small mentionable things in the travel itself: The Doha Qatar airport was awesome Got to see Mt Kilimanjaro from the window of our last flight to Momb

Athens Museums
I am not a big museum person. Usually I want to be out on the town, sight seeing or out in nature instead of inside a museum. However... the museums in Athens were so incredibly cool to see. Some of the statues and remnants from the Acropolis or any of the thousands of pieces of pottery or other archeological findings. Both of the museums we went to were very worth it. We spent a few hours in each of them and it was time well spent.

Insert Clever Title About Mykonos Here
Our last port of call on our trip was Mykonos, even though all the ports we went to were fantastic, this one was one of our favorites. The narrow streets with white painted cobble ground and multicolored doors, roofs, railings and windows were something very unique to this island. The famous windmills on the coast were also really cool to see. Little Venice was impressive, the churches had red domes instead of the blue and the beaches were beautiful. Spend most of the day he

Money Can't Buy Happiness, But it Can Get You to Santorini
Probably the most anticipated stop of the trip was Santorini and it did not disappoint at all starting on the water below the cliffs the view from the bottom was a great way to start. We then took a fun cable car ride up the steep cliff wall to get to the top of the island. Once we got to the top and got 3 minutes into walking around the streets we were already loving it. The super narrow streets and white washed buildings were very unique and were really special when you wer

Next Stop - Cyprus!
After a long day at see, we had our next stop on the island and country of Cyprus. This stop is very underrated, we didnt hear a whole lot about this place before going but it was a great place to stop! Birthplace of Aphrodite was the first thing we saw. This gorgeous beach is said to be the place where Aphrodite was born. The mythology of it was really cool but the beauty of the beach, water and coast were probably more impressive. After a few minutes at the overlook we cont

First Stop - Rhodes Greece
Our first real port of call after boarding the ship. We were looking forward to this port quite a bit and it did not disappoint! This day was a mix of sight seeing and a bit of time spent on the beach. The first thing we did was go on a walk through old town Rhodes also called the Medieval City of Rhodes. Interestingly enough the streets were nearly empty and we had the place all to ourselves. We walked down some amazing streets and made our way up to the Palace of the Grand

The Cliffside Monasteries of Meteora
Meteora was a bucketlist, once in a lifetime site we got to see on our trip. The stars aligned for us to be able to do this as it was really nowhere near the coast or our cruise ship port. It took a little bit of effort to get out here but it was a beautiful 3 hour drive through the countryside of Greece. The driving in Greek cities is a completely different animal and was absolutely crazy! Once we got too the mountain range where these monasteries were located we drove stra

The Acropolis of Athens + Ancient Agora
On day 2 in Athens we started early in the morning in an attempt to beat the crowds to the amazing acropolis. We walked up the hill and went through the main gate which and we blown away right from the start. The ancient theaters, ruins, building and huge granite columns were incredible. The sheer size of these buildings combined with the intricate details of the carvings really were something that blew our minds. The Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, Erectheion and The Odeon

Athens City Center + Plaka + Anafiotika + Roman Agora
This was the first where we spent the first day of our big trip to Greece. We got into Athens and immediately hit the streets after checking into our hotel. After a quick lunch of classic greek salad and pita with tzatziki we started walking around downtown Athens. The Plaka was a cool section of town with restaurants and shops all over the place, with ruins and churches sprinkled in here and there. On the outskirts of this section was a tiny neighborhood right at the foot of

Death Valley Rally
For our 5th anniversary we did a weekend trip through Las Vegas to Death Valley. Las Vegas was a blast, we were only there long enough for a nice dinner and a bit of time to chill. We went to a new place called Din Tai Fung and it was really good. The dumplings were steamed in bamboo bins and were fresh and delicious. We stayed at a new Marriott hotel by the strip and it was great too! Death Valley National Park was the next park on our list to check off. We were only there

Arches National Park
Spent the weekend doing plenty of walking around red rocks and looking at bunches of rock arches. We spent Friday and Saturday nights in some pretty swanky hotels (the breakfast in the one was straight fire). We hiked about 20 miles of trails all throughout the park, Allie's favorite arch was delicate and I think mine was too. We did that trail at the perfect time and didn't have many people around the arch which is uncommon. Double Arch, Turret Arch, Landscape and Double O A

Somewhere on a Beach - Maui Beaches
There must be over a hundred beaches on Maui and we had the chance to hit up a lot of them. Some of them are better than others, of course the red sand and black sand beaches were awesome but we are talking about classics here. Sitting on the fine sand and enjoying the sun was great no matter which beach it was. Makena beach was cool, Big beach was also amazing and riding the huge waves were a blast. Baldwin beach was massive and the first we went to. There were a few differe

Kaihalulu Red Sand Beach
This may have been my favorite place from the entire trip to Maui, the red sand against the turquoise water was incredible, we got lucky to and got it to ourselves for lots of the time. Had the chance to swim in it as well and that was awesome!

Road to Hana Waterfalls
The road to Hana is a long stretch of road along the coast, with hundreds of tight corners and nearly as many waterfalls. One of the sketchiest roads I have ever driven but it was so worth it because the scenery was absolutely stunning, coastal views and waterfalls were along the whole road, I took some pictures of a few of them but didn't even get close to capturing all of them.
